Landscape Trees

Trees are a climate change solution. They provide many benefits in home and urban landscapes - shading, cooling, stormwater management, energy savings, carbon sequestration, and more. Maryland has a goal to plant 5 million native trees by 2031.

Not all plant problems are caused by insects and diseases. Many tree and shrub problems are due to environmental issues or planting errors.

Crapemrytle bark scale was first confirmed in Maryland in April 2020 by the Maryland Department of Agriculture. It was later found in Frederick and Carroll Counties. Monitor crape myrtles closely for this pest to limit the spread of the scale insect.
